MOTHER EARTH - Together with the earth and with each other

Last year, our WOVEN contest introduced its first winning design, "We Are All One", created by Summer Testawich.

We are proud to continue this journey with the 2025 WOVEN limited edition blanket, "Mother Earth." This year's design is by Prairie Constant, a young Cree artist from Sturgeon Lake First Nation. Her work authentically reflects her values of humility, kinship, and connection to the land, beautifully illustrating the teachings that shape her world.

A COLLABORATION WITH SOARING CIRCLE TO UPLIFT INDIGENOUS YOUTH

Soaring Circle is a Canadian charity committed to empowering Indigenous youth through access to education, mentorship, and opportunities in creative industries. Soaring Circle provides fully equipped sewing labs in schools, connects youth with cultural knowledge, and supports their journey into entrepreneurship or careers in fashion.

Together, we created WOVEN, a limited-edition initiative that invites Indigenous students to design artwork that can be woven into a blanket. This collaboration encourages youth to explore their creativity and take pride in their culture while also opening the door to career opportunities.

OUR 2025 WINNER: PRAIRIE CONSTANT

Prairie Constant is a young Plains Cree artist from Sturgeon Lake First Nation, currently living in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Her art reflects the values she lives by: humility, kinship, and respect for the land. These principles are deeply woven into her winning WOVEN design and are carried forward in her blanket.

«Humility and kinship are important to me because they teach us that we are not better than one another. We are all part of one family, together with the earth and with each other.» - Prairie Constant

ABOUT HER DESIGN MOTHER EARTH

At the heart of the Mother Earth blanket, people are shown holding hands, a reminder that we’re all connected, across differences, across generations. The symmetry of the design, with its mirror-like top and bottom, is a symbol of balance and community. It’s also a way of honouring the land, animals, and relationships that give life.

Through the WOVEN contest, Prairie had the opportunity to transform her artwork into a product that will be seen, touched, and cherished. We hope her story inspires other Indigenous youth to explore creative paths and proudly share their voices with the world.
